WHO WE ARE
UK Action for Refugees was founded on the simple principle of people helping people.
We began as a group of like minded individuals who realised that the governments and main NGOs seemed unable to respond to a humanitarian crisis that was happening in their own backyard.
What we could never have imagined was that there were thousands of other people who felt exactly the same way, disempowered and desperate to help, but unable to figure out how.
Through the power of social media we reached out and they reached back, and through our combined efforts we have been able to become an organisation that can and does make a difference.
We have a network contacts on the ground at every step of the refugees journey. From sending aid and food straight into Syria, to being part of The Hope Centre project in Lesvos, to providing aid and volunteers in Calais, right through the end of the journey linking up with the resettlement networks. UK Action wants to support the victims of the crisis every step of the way.
To bring material aids to those people displaced by war, conflicts or natural disasters.
To put volunteers on the ground to help with the day to day operations at refugee sites in which there is little to no governmental or large NGO presence.
To help coordinate the efforts and the wealth of experience available in smaller humanitarian groups into a larger and greater movement.
To act quickly and efficiently to address new and changing situations.
To help work towards long term solutions.
UK Action for Refugees is a restricted fund working under the auspices of Prism the Gift Fund (UK charity number 1099682)
